An Illuminated Paris Landmark Above a Dark Wet Path
The rain had just passed, and the path beneath me was still wet. I found this view of the Eiffel Tower through bare trees late at night, when the foreground was dark and the illuminated structure stood clearly above it. This black and white photograph keeps that quieter Paris setting around the familiar landmark.
The tower rises near the centre, but the branches interrupt its lower outline. They are fine and irregular beside the repeated geometry of the ironwork. A taller tree on the right reaches into the sky, while the darker vegetation below almost merges into one broad shape. The light on the tower makes those surrounding shadows feel deeper.
I walked slowly through the scene, watching how the lighting cut between the branches. A bright lamp to the left adds a small star of light, separate from the larger glow of the tower. Below it, the path curves through the foreground and provides a way into the picture. The damp surface catches just enough light to remain visible.
What stayed with me was the experience of seeing a well-known structure from within an ordinary patch of darkness. The tower is immediately recognisable, yet the trees and wet path make the encounter more specific. I wanted that setting to remain part of the photograph. As a Paris night print, the image offers both the illuminated landmark and the quieter textures of the ground and branches around it.
