Reykjavik Corner Building Black and White Architectural Photography
Stacked Windows and Dormers Above a Reykjavik Street Corner
An angled building corner made me pause during a walk through Reykjavik. From where I stood, both street-facing sides were visible, their rows of windows meeting beneath a raised upper section and a small roof railing. I spent time refining the view so the corner would hold the picture together. It was an ordinary part of the city, but the combination of window shapes, rooflines, and light gave it a strong architectural presence.
The pale siding is crossed by fine vertical grooves, while dark trim outlines each window. Gabled dormers run along both roof slopes, repeating smaller versions of the forms below. The projecting upper corner introduces a different shape, with three visible faces set against the cloudy sky. At pavement level, the fish and chips signs, doorway, and bicycle racks bring the building back into its street setting. I wanted those details present because they make the photograph more specific than a study of lines alone.
In black and white, the light across the siding separates the two facades and gives the trim clear edges. Smaller shadows beneath the roof and windows add depth without obscuring their arrangement. I made this photograph while exploring Reykjavik in 2022, stopping for a corner that became more interesting the longer I looked. The composition follows the building from its street-level shopfront to the dormers and railing above, with the everyday signs and fittings keeping its geometric structure connected to a working city.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
