Empty streets of Dubrovnik Croatia | Limited Edition of 10
Dubrovnik Old Town Street Scene in Black and White
Walking the streets of Dubrovnik in January is an entirely different experience than being here in the height of summer. When the cruise ships are docked and the walls are overflowing with visitors, it can be hard to imagine the city at rest. Yet in winter, as I discovered on this particular morning, the city empties out. The old stone passageways echo with silence, the air is cooler, and you feel like the city belongs only to you.
This image captures that rare moment — a deserted street in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, its limestone blocks polished to a soft shine after years of footsteps, rain, and sun. The garlands strung between buildings hint at the season just passed, but the mood here is more than festive; it’s contemplative. Black and white brings out the character of the stonework, the worn texture of the walkway, and the geometry of lanterns and arches that define this medieval cityscape.
As a photographer, I’m always searching for places where they reveal their most authentic selves. For Dubrovnik, that time isn’t when the postcards are made in July or August. It’s in January, when the tourists are gone, the shop shutters are half-closed, and the city whispers its history without interruption. That’s why this piece feels more than documentary — it’s a portrait of place and mood, pared down to essentials.
Every print I make is hand-signed and produced using archival materials, so the richness of the tones remains intact. This isn’t a computer-generated scene or a stock image — I was there, waiting for the right moment when the light struck the pavement and no one else entered the frame. That honesty is what I strive to convey in all my fine art photography.
If you’re drawn to imagery that evokes stillness and timelessness, this piece belongs on your wall. It’s not just about Dubrovnik as a destination — it’s about the universal experience of walking through a place steeped in history, yet quiet enough to let your thoughts wander.
For those interested in exploring more images from this region, you’ll find additional works in my Croatia Photography collection. You can also discover more imagery with a similar enduring quality in my Timeless Photography collection.

Limited Edition of 10
This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.
Premium Archival Fine Art Prints
I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.
Worldwide Delivery Included
Every print is personally produced, inspected, signed, numbered, and carefully packaged by me at my studio in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada.
Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
