Buenos Aires Apartment Windows | Black and White Architecture Photography
Window Shades and Air Conditioners Across a City Façade
What drew me to this Buenos Aires apartment building was the pattern across its façade. Windows, lowered shades, and projecting air conditioners repeat between strong vertical divisions, but no two sections are quite the same. I photographed the wall closely in black and white, letting those ordinary details become an architectural composition of their own.
The building's structure provides a regular grid. Within it, the window coverings sit at different heights, some concealing most of the glass and others leaving brighter openings. The air-conditioning units add small boxes and circles to that larger arrangement, breaking the flat surface with shadows and depth.
I like the tension between repetition and variation here. From farther away, the image reads as a rhythm of light columns and darker panels. Up close, each window has its own balance of shade, reflection, and equipment. The photograph keeps the two ways of looking together.
The slightly angled viewpoint means the repeated lines do not sit perfectly square to the frame. They move across it, giving the façade a sense of continuation beyond the crop. There is no roofline or street below to interrupt that pattern, so the wall remains the whole visual field.
For someone who enjoys city detail and the geometry of buildings, this photograph offers an everyday side of Buenos Aires. I do not need to know what happens behind the windows to find them absorbing. Their visible differences are enough to give a uniform building surface a varied, lived-in character.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
