Zion Diner Counter and Empty Seats Black and White Photography
A Row of Stools Beneath a Dark Wooden Ceiling
A row of stools faces the counter in this Zion diner photograph, with tables and chairs occupying the foreground. I photographed the room without people in view, allowing the furnishings and the many objects behind the counter to become the subject. The long ceiling boards lead towards the back wall, giving the interior a clear sense of depth.
The counter divides the photograph across the middle. Below it, the stools repeat at slightly different intervals; above it, bottles, signs and equipment create a denser arrangement. Shelves on the left and taller units on the right frame that central area. I enjoy the difference between the simple row of seats and the more complicated display behind them. One offers a pattern that is quickly understood, while the other rewards a closer look.
Black and white keeps the darker ceiling distinct from the brighter counter area. Small highlights pick out chair backs, stool seats and objects along the shelves, while the foreground floor stays comparatively open. The tables near both edges help bring the viewer into the room rather than leaving the counter as a distant strip. My attention moves from those closer seats to the repeated stools and then into the details on the back wall. The photograph holds that everyday diner arrangement together, with the empty places giving each piece of furniture room to be seen.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
