Manhattan Towers and East River Bridges Black and White Photography
An Elevated View From Lower Manhattan Toward Brooklyn
New York still energizes me after decades of photographing it. For this view, I looked out from high above Lower Manhattan as lights began to define the streets and buildings below. The Brooklyn Bridge runs across the East River near the centre, with the Manhattan Bridge farther behind it and Brooklyn extending toward the horizon. I chose a vertical composition to connect the towers close to me with those more distant layers of the city.
The foreground buildings make a dense arrangement of narrow windows, pale facades, rooftops, and shadowed streets. Their upright forms contrast with the diagonals of the bridges, which carry the eye out across the water. Boats and wakes introduce smaller shapes in the river, while the neighbourhoods beyond become progressively finer in scale. I liked how the scene could be followed from the nearest architecture all the way to the distant lights, without losing the East River as a clear dividing space.
Black and white let me concentrate on those structures and changes in tone. Bright faces and points of light stand against the darker street grid, and the river provides room between the tightly packed districts. I wanted to keep both the city’s overall scale and the detail that makes an elevated view worth studying. As New York wall art, this photograph offers a strong vertical image for an office, living room, or study. It holds the skyline and bridges together while leaving smaller rooftops, windows, and intersections to reveal themselves on a closer look.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
