Warwick Hotel New York Night Black And White Photograph
A Bright Hotel Entrance Within A Shadowed Streetscape
The Warwick hotel entrance glows within a dark New York streetscape, its name visible above the steps. I photographed this scene in 2005, drawn to the way a few bright areas could describe a much larger facade. In black and white, the hotel’s windows, entrance lights, and streetlamp become the main points of orientation.
New York often gives me a photograph around the next corner, and this building caught my attention on one of those nights. The view stays near street level rather than looking toward a distant skyline. I like the sense of being across the road, looking at the everyday threshold between a city street and a lit interior.
The facade offers a mixture of repeating windows and larger openings below. Two flags angle outward above the entrance, while poles and signs create vertical lines closer to the camera. These ordinary street details are part of the picture’s character. They make the architecture feel situated within the city rather than presented as an isolated monument.
Across the lower frame, the road is mostly empty, giving the darker tones room to spread. Above it, the brightest lights reveal sections of the building and leave others in shadow. I wanted that selective visibility to carry the mood. The photograph suits a room that welcomes monochrome city imagery, especially a view where recognisable architecture is held within the quieter atmosphere of New York at night.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
