New York Pier 76 Terminal Facade Black and White Waterfront Photography
Marine and Aviation Lettering Beneath a Cloud Filled Skyline
The words “Marine & Aviation” and “Pier 76” remain visible across the weathered terminal facade. Three large door openings interrupt its long wall, with the Manhattan skyline rising behind the low roof. I photographed this waterfront view in 2015, before the pier’s renovation. The lettering gives the building a specific identity within the broader city scene, and the direct view across the river makes its simple outline especially clear.
A line of supports runs along the water below the terminal. Above them, the wall carries streaks, worn patches and fine vertical marks. The pale doors stand out against that darker texture, while the rightmost opening reveals a dark section at its base. I like the repetition across the facade: three broad rectangles, a continuous roofline and smaller upright elements along the edge of the pier.
Behind the building, towers rise at different distances. A narrow pointed landmark near the centre gives the skyline a recognisable Manhattan character, while construction cranes add fine diagonal lines at the sides. Scattered clouds occupy the open sky, softening the geometry of the architecture.
Black and white brings the terminal’s rough surfaces and the more regular window grids behind it into a shared tonal range. The water adds a third texture across the foreground. As a print, this photograph offers a detailed record of Pier 76’s earlier appearance, with enough skyline context to connect the industrial waterfront building to the city beyond.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
