Abandoned Rural New York House Black and White Photography
Barred Windows and a Lawn Chair Beneath a Damaged Roof
A pale lawn chair remains in front of this abandoned house in rural New York State. I photographed the building from across the road, with its damaged front opening, barred windows and uneven roof edge all visible. The chair is small within the view, but its simple shape stands out against the darker, more complicated frontage.
The house still has a clear outline: a broad pitched roof, a smaller front gable and a narrow extension on the right. Within that familiar structure, the worn surfaces introduce many irregular details. Siding has peeled and darkened, the lower roof edge is broken in places, and a large opening on the left contains tilted pieces of framing. I find the window bars striking because their repeated straight lines remain comparatively orderly beside that damage. They give the eye a pattern to follow within the weathered facade.
Bare trees surround the house, their thin branches crossing the sky above the roof. A road curves away on the left, connecting the building to a wider rural setting. Black and white brings the pale siding, dark openings and branching lines into a restrained composition. My photograph keeps the whole house in view rather than isolating one damaged section. That lets the smaller details accumulate: the chair, the bars, the broken edge and the contrast between the recognisable building shape and its worn condition.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
