Man Behind a Fogged Toronto Window Black and White Photography

Sale price $39.00 CAD

A Partial Face At The Edge Of Textured Glass

The window occupies most of the photograph, but a small part of a face changes how I see it. I made this black and white image in Toronto, keeping the man near the right edge of the square frame. Glasses, an eye and the line of his nose remain visible through the condensation.

I like how the obscured view asks attention to move between two surfaces: the physical glass and the person beyond it. Moisture softens the face, while droplets, streaks and uneven patches give the window its own detail. The barrier is part of the photograph’s character rather than something to see past.

Dark structural lines border the right and lower edges. Against them, the broad gray field at the left seems even more open. That off-centre arrangement gives the small human presence room to register without becoming a conventional, fully revealed portrait.

Black and white keeps the texture and tonal differences clear. The face remains recognisable, but much of its expression is withheld by the glass. I wanted to preserve that uncertainty. The photograph holds together through the relationship between a large, tactile surface and a brief glimpse of someone behind it. For me, the quiet tension comes from how little needs to be visible before a person becomes the part of the image I keep returning to.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
