Curtained Window in an Abandoned Bahamas Home

Folded Fabric and Slanting Light on a Quiet Interior

A small window and its gathered curtain occupy an otherwise bare wall in this black and white interior photograph. Made inside an abandoned home in Clarence Town, Bahamas, the image follows the soft light falling around the frame. Pale fabric hangs in loose folds above a darker opening, with thin bright lines visible through it.

I was drawn to how little the scene needed. The window sits below a broad area of empty wall, allowing the light and shadow to become part of the subject. The upper left is brighter, while the right side falls into a deeper grey. That shift gives the room shape without showing its wider layout.

The curtain adds a softer texture to the rough wall and straight window edges. Its folds bunch together at the top and spread into an uneven hanging shape. I like the contrast between that fabric and the darker rectangle beneath it, where the narrow strips of light offer a second, quieter pattern.

There are signs of wear around the opening, but the photograph does not need to explain who lived here or why the house was left. What interested me was the detail that remained: a domestic object, an old wall, and the light still entering the room.

For me, this is an intimate architectural study with a still, understated atmosphere. The monochrome tones keep attention on the curtain’s form and the gentle changes across the wall.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
