SAHMRI Triangular Facade Close-Up Photography in Black and White
Rows of Dark Triangles Recede Towards a Bright Sky
The nearest triangles are large enough to feel almost within reach; the farthest ones become a tight row against the sky. That change in scale is what drew me to this close view of SAHMRI in Adelaide. My black and white photograph looks along the facade’s repeating angular forms, letting perspective turn the surface into a field of depth.
I like the contrast within each section. Pale triangular faces meet dark projecting edges, and small bright lines appear where light catches the framework. Across the lower part of the image, those details are distinct. Higher up, they gather into overlapping shapes that feel less like individual elements and more like one continuous rhythm.
The bright strip of sky gives the pattern a clear ending. It is a simple area, but it matters: without it, the rows could seem to continue indefinitely. I kept the composition horizontal so that the repetition can spread across the frame while still pulling the eye towards the distant edge.
In monochrome, the photograph sits between an architectural study and a geometric abstract. There is enough detail to recognise a built surface, yet its purpose becomes secondary to shape, light and spacing. I see it as a print for a modern office or an interior with spare, clean lines. What holds my interest is how the same triangular form changes from a substantial foreground shape into a small dark mark, all within this one view.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
