Navy Pier Ferris Wheel Sunset Silhouette Chicago Photography Art

Dark Wheel Spokes Against A Soft Golden Evening Sky

The Ferris wheel is reduced to its clearest lines against a soft golden sky. Small passenger cabins follow the curve of its rim, while the spokes draw the eye toward a centre partly hidden behind a roof. On the left, a dark building adds a solid shape beside the wheel’s more delicate framework.

I photographed this Navy Pier view in Chicago in 2011. The scene has very little visible surface detail, and that is part of its appeal. The dark silhouettes let the structure read almost like a drawing, with the repeated cabins giving a rhythm to the arc. Above them, a generous area of pale sky keeps the image open and quiet.

The colour deepens gently toward the wheel, moving from cream into warm yellow and peach. I like how that subtle change gives the black lines something softer to sit against. The curve of the roof below overlaps the wheel, creating another line to follow without obscuring its recognisable shape.

This Chicago wall art brings a graphic city detail and a warm evening palette into a living room, office or hallway. It suits someone with a connection to Navy Pier, or anyone drawn to the geometry of amusement rides. The photograph leaves space around its subject, allowing the shape and colour to do most of the work. It is a quiet view of a lively place, held in the moment when the wheel becomes a silhouette.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
