Old Havana Musicians Mural Black and White Street Photography Print
This square Old Havana musicians print brings a lively Cuban mural to your wall in black and white. Painted bass and percussion players fill the weathered surface with bold outlines and patterned detail.
I photographed this musicians mural in Old Havana, keeping the painted figures close while including a strip of pavement below. A bass player appears on the left, a percussionist occupies the centre and a drummer stands on the right. Their exaggerated shapes and patterned clothing make the wall lively even in black and white.
The drawing combines strong outlines with many smaller repeated marks. Dots, short strokes, curved patterns and checks fill the clothing and spaces around the instruments. I find the drums on the right especially clear: the player’s hands sit above two rounded tops, with darker triangular shapes below. The upright bass introduces another broad curve on the left, while its neck extends into the upper left part of the composition. These distinct forms remain easy to follow within the denser pattern.
My photograph also keeps the mural connected to its physical setting. Wear along the base of the wall, the curb and the fence above are all visible around the painted scene. Black and white emphasises the contrast between the dark outlines and pale shapes, bringing the composition forward without hiding the surface beneath it. I enjoy the way the image can be read both as a photograph of Havana street art and as an arrangement of musicians, instruments and graphic detail. The closer view allows those painted forms to hold the frame.
