I remember the cold clarity of that morning in western Mongolia, the kind of air that wakes every sense the moment you step into it. Out in Khovd Province, the landscape stretches in every direction—open steppe, rolling hills, and a wide bowl of sky that seems to breathe along with the land. When this eagle hunter charged through the shallow stream, horse kicking up water and the eagle spreading its massive wings overhead, the entire scene felt like it had been pulled straight out of a much older world.
In this photograph, the rider dominates the frame with calm determination, dressed in the heavy traditional coat embroidered with patterns passed down through generations. His horse, light-coloured and powerful, surges forward with confidence, water splashing around its legs. What truly commands attention is the eagle—wings wide, feathers catching the light, its form perfectly frozen in motion. The bird seems almost larger than life, a partner rather than an accessory, and a clear reflection of the bond shared between hunter, horse, and sky.
The black and white treatment reveals every texture the Gobi foothills offer. The wet stones shimmer beneath the breaking water, the horse’s muscles catch highlights as it lifts from the stream, and the eagle’s layered feathers show an astonishing range of tone. Even the rider’s expression becomes more intense in this palette—focused, composed, and attuned to the rhythm of the land.
This corner of Mongolia is as raw and honest as it gets. There are no distant cities here, no fences, no hum of traffic. Instead, the land opens wide, inviting you to understand just how deeply culture and survival intertwine. Eagle hunters aren’t simply performing a tradition; they’re living it. Moving through this landscape with them, even briefly, feels like stepping into a story far older than any one person.
For me, moments like this remind me why I travel—to witness the connection between people and place, and to experience cultures that live in sync with their environment. The energy, the motion, the sheer presence of this rider and his eagle create an image that feels both powerful and grounded. It’s one of those scenes that stays with you long after you’ve left the valley behind.

This photograph is released as a signed and numbered limited edition of only 10 prints in total across all available sizes combined—not 10 prints in each size.
Every size is drawn from the same edition. Whether the photograph is purchased as a small print or at the largest available size, it uses one of the 10 edition numbers.
I personally sign and number each print on the reverse, and every print is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity recording its title, dimensions, medium, edition number, and date of issue.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, the edition will be permanently closed. No additional numbered editions of the photograph will be produced in another size or format.

I personally produce every photograph using archival pigment inks on premium archival paper with a subtle luster finish.
The paper provides rich tonal depth, excellent fine-detail reproduction, and a refined surface that reduces distracting glare under normal indoor lighting. It is especially well suited to both color and black-and-white photography.
Each photograph is sold as an unframed fine art print, allowing it to be framed according to the collector’s space and personal style.
Before a print leaves my studio, I carefully inspect it for color, tonal accuracy, surface quality, and overall presentation. Nothing is outsourced, and every finished print passes through my hands.

Worldwide delivery is included in the listed price, so there is no additional shipping charge added during checkout. I select an appropriate tracked delivery service based on the destination, print size, and current shipping requirements.
Delivery times vary by destination and may be affected by customs processing or circumstances beyond my control.
Because I also travel extensively to create new photographic work, studio dispatch may occasionally be delayed while I am away. When that happens, the print will be produced and shipped as soon as I return to the studio.
