Empire State and Chrysler Buildings | Manhattan Skyline Photograph
Two Landmark Crowns Above Glass Towers and a Tree-Lined Waterfront
Manhattan’s layers are what drew me to this photograph. The Empire State Building rises above the nearer glass towers, while the Chrysler Building’s pointed crown appears farther to the right. I chose black and white to let those recognisable outlines share attention with the window grids and smaller buildings around them.
The vertical composition follows the city from the water upward. A narrow river foreground leads to the waterfront and a dark band of trees. Above that, reflective rectangular buildings create a dense middle layer before the Empire State Building reaches into the open sky. The Chrysler Building is smaller in the frame, but its distinctive shape gives the view a second point of recognition. I like how neither landmark is isolated from the city that has grown around it.
Different surfaces carry different tones: pale masonry, darker window openings, reflective glass and the finer texture of the trees. The sky gives those details room, keeping the upper silhouettes clear rather than crowding them against more architecture. To me, this is a photograph about familiar buildings within everyday Manhattan, seen as part of a larger arrangement. It would suit an office or an interior with a connection to New York, offering a landmark view that also rewards closer study. What I return to is the contrast between the two crowns and the more regular blocks below them, all joined by the same waterfront and held within one tall frame.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
