Lower Manhattan Waterfront Skyline Black and White Photography
One World Trade Center Above Rippling Water And Clouds
Open water gives me a little distance from Lower Manhattan in this black and white photograph. The skyline stretches across the frame, with One World Trade Center rising above the close gathering of buildings. I like seeing the city at this scale: individual towers remain recognizable, but their shapes also join into one complicated waterfront profile.
The water makes a rough, dark band beneath the architecture. Its small ripples break up the surface in a way that contrasts with the windows and straight edges beyond it. Above the buildings, thin clouds spread across the sky, with a longer pale streak lifting toward the right. Those changing textures keep the photograph from being only a study of vertical lines.
I gave the skyline space above and below rather than filling the frame with buildings. That choice lets the eye follow the variations in height, from the lower waterfront structures to the tallest tower. The crowded middle of the photograph has a rhythm of its own, interrupted by spires, cranes, and gaps between buildings.
Black and white brings that rhythm forward. The pale faces of some towers separate from the darker ones beside them, and the city stays legible against the sky. For me, this view holds two familiar qualities of New York together: the concentration of its architecture and the surprising openness available when I look back toward it across the water.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
