Santo Domingo Monument Corridor Black and White Photography
Repeating Openings Along a Symmetrical Concrete Passage
The passage narrows toward a distant opening, with rows of dark rectangular recesses repeating on both sides. I photographed this view at the Columbus Lighthouse Monument in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In black and white, the concrete walls and tiled walkway form a strong study of symmetry and depth.
We had rented a car and spent the day exploring Santo Domingo before making the monument our last stop. The museum had already closed when we arrived, but the late afternoon light gave me a reason to keep looking around. I walked through the structure, searching for perspectives and smaller details. This long view became my favourite.
Standing near the centre allowed the two walls to balance one another. Horizontal bands divide their height, while the pavement carries the same forward movement at ground level. A narrow strip of sky remains overhead. Farther along, plants and small figures provide scale without competing with the architecture.
I wanted the image to do more than identify a landmark. The repeated openings create a rhythm, but weathering and changes in light keep that rhythm from feeling uniform. Monochrome concentrates attention on those differences and on the bright patch crossing the floor. The photograph brings a clear architectural perspective to a contemporary room or office, with enough texture to reward time spent looking beyond the central lines.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
