Reichstag Glass Dome Black and White Photography | Berlin

Geometric Interior of Berlin's Reichstag Glass Dome

The farther I looked down, the more the architecture seemed to fold into itself.

Inside the glass dome of Berlin's Reichstag, I was drawn to the extraordinary geometry created by the central mirrored cone, spiralling ramps and layered glass structure. From this elevated position, the architecture becomes almost abstract. Curving lines circle the frame while the dark central form narrows toward the building below.

I chose black and white because colour added very little to what interested me. This photograph is about shape, repetition, reflection and light. The strong horizontal bands of the central structure create a visual rhythm, while the glass floor and surrounding framework reveal people and interior spaces far beneath the viewpoint.

Small points of light break through the darker areas, producing sharp star-like highlights against the steel and glass. Around them, reflections overlap with structural lines until it becomes difficult to tell where one surface ends and another begins.

What I like most is that the photograph does not immediately explain itself. The Reichstag is one of Berlin's most recognizable buildings, yet from inside the dome the familiar landmark becomes a study in contemporary architectural design.

For me, that is what made the scene worth photographing. I was no longer looking at a government building from the outside. I was inside a complex arrangement of glass, steel, mirrors and curves, searching for the order hidden within all that geometry.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
