Kochi Fishing Nets Beneath a Pink Sky Wall Art
Delicate Waterfront Structures Recede Across Blue Grey Water
The fishing nets form a procession along the waterfront, their raised frames growing smaller as they follow the shore. I photographed these Chinese fishing nets in Kochi, Kerala, during my travels in India in 2010. A soft pink band stretches across the sky, bringing a little warmth to the blue-grey water and the fine dark lines of the structures.
The nearest net gives the composition its shape. Its long supports spread outward from an upright centre, with ropes and mesh suspended between them. Farther away, the repeated frames overlap into a finer pattern. The nets look delicate against the open sky, even though their supporting platforms stand firmly above the water.
I left the water open on the left side of the frame. Small ripples cover its surface, and a low tree line defines the opposite shore. On the right, the structures lead toward darker foliage and a bright patch of blue near the bank. That shift from open water to a busier shoreline gives the view depth without crowding the foreground.
For me, the photograph holds both the character of Kochi’s fishing waterfront and the softer atmosphere of this particular light. The pink clouds are gentle rather than dramatic, allowing the nets’ silhouettes to remain the main subject. This print suits a coastal room or a space filled with travel memories, with enough detail to reward a closer look and a calm colour palette that keeps the whole scene balanced.
