Colosseum, Rome, Italy

The Colosseum is the main symbol of Rome and has been photographed by millions of people. The Roman Colosseum receives 6 million visitors annually per the tourist bureau. So as photographers, we are tasked with making unique and compelling images of this over-shot monument. After dusk, I choose to shoot this travel photograph to create a dark and lonely mood. Fitting given that the Roman Colosseum was host to over 50,000 spectators watching gladiator fights or even executions of prisoners. The technique I used is similar to this after-dusk shot in Tuscany. I was able to set up my tripod off the terrace of Colosso Metro Cafe
