Reykjavik Graffiti House Black and White Street Photography
Painted Side Wall Beside White Trim and Timber Siding
I stopped at this small Reykjavik house while exploring the city on foot. From the corner, one side showed pale window trim and horizontal siding, while the other carried large overlapping graffiti letters. That contrast made the building worth a closer look. I was moving through neighbourhood streets rather than working toward a particular landmark, and the photograph grew from noticing how two very different surfaces met within the same modest structure.
The steep gable and projecting upper window give the house a clear outline against the sky. On the front, two narrow windows repeat the taller shape above them. The side wall is darker, with outlined letters covering its lower portion and smaller marks continuing around the base. A street lamp rises in front of the facade, its shadow forming a round patch beside one window. The bicycle rack and sloping pavement place those details within an everyday street rather than separating the house from its surroundings.
Black and white draws attention to the layered textures: timber lines, painted curves, roof surfaces, and the patterned grilles below. The pale trim keeps the front windows distinct, while the graffiti forms a larger and looser pattern on the side. I made this photograph in Reykjavik in 2022, responding to a building whose character came from that visible mixture. The composition keeps its tidy window shapes and less orderly painted wall together, allowing both to define the corner instead of choosing just one side as the subject.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
