Red Classic Chevrolet on a Havana Street Wall Art
Polished Chrome Beside Turquoise and Pink Colonial Facades
Walking through Havana gave me time to notice scenes like this: a red classic Chevrolet parked beside a row of brightly painted buildings. The car faces the camera, with its round headlights and broad chrome grille clearly visible. Behind it, turquoise, pink, and pale cream facades lead along the narrow Cuban street.
I photographed the scene in 2017 while exploring the city on foot. What held my attention was the connection between the car’s colour and the architecture around it. Red doors and window bars repeat some of its warmth, while the blue-green walls give the bodywork a stronger contrast.
Light catches the curved hood and chrome trim, producing small reflections across the front. Above the car, balconies, decorative supports, and ironwork introduce finer shapes. A band of shadow crosses the nearer facades, breaking up their large areas of colour without hiding the detail.
The street continues beyond the vehicle, with a few pedestrians visible farther away. I kept that distance in the frame so the photograph would retain the feeling of an ordinary encounter during a walk, rather than becoming an isolated car portrait.
This print brings classic automotive design and Havana street life into the same view. It offers a strong red focal point, but the surrounding buildings are essential to its character. For someone who enjoys Cuba, vintage cars, or colourful travel photography, the image holds a place and a moment together through their shared light and colour.
