Vancouver Love Chalkboard on Yellow Wall Colour Photography
Handwritten Messages Layer Across Black Paint and Yellow Brick
A bright yellow wall surrounds a black chalkboard covered in messages about love. I found this scene in Vancouver, British Columbia, and stood for a while reading the overlapping words before photographing it. The colour is part of what holds the picture together: yellow brick around the outside, dark paint in the centre and scattered marks of white and coloured chalk.
The large word at the top gives the board a clear starting point. Beneath it, small printed prompts line up in columns, while handwritten answers wander across them. Some fit neatly into the spaces; others grow larger, cross existing words or leave little drawings behind. I like how the orderly structure remains visible underneath all that individual handwriting.
I framed the wall straight on so the rectangle of black paint would sit firmly within the yellow border. The brick courses continue through both colours, adding a repeated horizontal texture beneath the words. A narrow strip of pavement along the bottom keeps the view connected to the street where I encountered it.
For me, the interest is in seeing many small contributions together. Each hand leaves a different kind of line, and the layered chalk makes the surface look active even though no one is standing in the frame. The photograph keeps one version of that wall, with its combination of bold colour, printed structure and personal marks.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
