Weathered Studebaker Truck in Bisbee Black and White Photography
Peeling Bodywork In Front Of An Old Hat Shop
I kept looking past the truck to the hat-shop window behind it. The sign promises styles from New York and Paris, while the Studebaker in the foreground is covered in worn paint and rough patches. I photographed the scene in Bisbee, Arizona, in black and white because that contrast between storefront and vehicle was what held my attention.
The truck fills much of the square frame. Its rounded hood and front fender meet the straighter grille openings, and the dark tyre gives the lower half a firm anchor. Along the cab, areas of pale paint alternate with darker weathering. Those uneven surfaces make the vehicle feel quite different from the clean outlines it still retains.
Behind it, the storefront adds another set of shapes: a row of upper windows, brickwork, the shop entrance, and the large lettering in the glass. I did not want to reduce the photograph to a vehicle detail. Leaving the building visible keeps the truck within a street scene and gives the worn bodywork a visual counterpart.
There is something theatrical about the arrangement, especially the polished promise of the shop lettering beside the battered pickup. I like that both remain readable without either taking over completely. The photograph works through their relationship: a recognizable old truck close to the camera, with another fragment of the town's character held just behind it.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
