Weathered Cargo Tricycles Against A Beijing Brick Wall Colour Photography
Two Working Cycles Facing Opposite Ways Along A Wall
Two cargo tricycles stand side by side against a grey brick wall in Beijing, their front wheels pointing in opposite directions. The turquoise box of one overlaps the faded grey box of the other, creating a compact arrangement of wheels, frames and worn metal. I liked how neatly the pair fitted into the everyday street setting.
The brickwork gives the photograph a steady background. Its horizontal courses repeat behind the curved spokes and angled bicycle frames, letting their shapes remain easy to follow. Above them, a barred window and utility boxes add another layer of practical details. The scene feels visually ordered even though its parts are far from pristine.
Colour is subtle but important here. Patches of turquoise survive among the rust, with a little red around the window and pale coverings on the saddles. Those small accents lift the bicycles away from the grey wall and pavement. I kept the surrounding space in the composition so the cycles could be seen as part of the street rather than isolated objects.
Photographed in 2015, this image reflects my interest in useful things that become compelling photographic subjects through shape and texture. I do not know the work these particular cycles had carried out, but their construction is clearly there to see. For anyone drawn to bicycle photography, Chinese street scenes or weathered urban detail, the paired forms offer an engaging study of ordinary design.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
