Old Prison Window and Weathered Walls Black and White Photography
Divided Glass and Diagonal Beams Above Worn Plaster
The window sits high in a stained wall, its divided panes catching the pale light beyond. Above it, narrow beams cross an open area of sky. I photographed this old prison detail from below, bringing the window, the overhead framework and the rough wall into a single upward view. The frame follows the building’s lines rather than offering a view of the whole structure.
What draws me to this detail is the contrast between the orderly window and the irregular surface around it. Dark bars divide the glass into small rectangles, while streaks run down the wall beneath the sill. Patches of worn plaster interrupt the larger planes. Each part has a different texture, yet the diagonal edges pull them together.
Black and white gives those relationships room to work. The bright opening at the top carries very little detail, making the beams particularly clear. Lower in the photograph, the tones deepen around the window and beneath the crossing support. I find that movement from light to shadow as interesting as the signs of wear themselves.
This architectural photograph would appeal to someone who enjoys small building details, textured surfaces and strong geometry. Its vertical composition gives the eye a route from the weathered lower wall toward the light above, with the window providing a firm point of focus along the way.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
