Dubrovnik Old Town Alley Black and White Street Photography
Stone Walls and Reflective Paving Draw the Eye Downward
A bright strip along the paving pulls the eye into this narrow Dubrovnik alley. I photographed the Old Town lane in black and white, with stone buildings rising on both sides and a graffiti-covered shutter close to the left edge. The street’s depth matters as much as any single doorway: nearly every line leads toward the small figures farther away.
The near wall has plenty to interrupt its regular stonework. A broad rolling shutter carries dark painted letters, while smaller shutters and window openings sit above it. Across the lane, arched doorways create deeper pockets of shadow. Those details give the street an everyday character within the closely built Old Town setting.
I kept a generous area of paving in the foreground. Its rectangular stones become smaller as they recede, and their pale surface catches a narrow run of light through the center. The tall walls leave only a small opening of sky above, so the view feels enclosed without becoming visually blocked. Overhead lines and small projecting fixtures add finer marks between the buildings.
What interests me here is the way an ordinary lane can become a strong composition through perspective. The graffiti is noticeable first, but it does not hold the eye in one place. Windows, doors, and paving carry the view beyond it, toward the distant people and the street continuing behind them. This photograph records a lived-in part of Dubrovnik, with close architectural details and daily life sharing the same narrow space.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
