Weathered Santa Marta Bus Cuba Colour Street Photography
Teal and White Bus Along a Pastel Cuban Street
The faded teal and white of this bus caught my attention as I walked through Santa Marta, Cuba. It stood close to the kerb, filling much of the street beside pale green buildings and worn plaster walls. I stopped for the colour first, then began noticing the peeling paint around the windscreen, the rust marks below the windows, and the people visible inside. Those details tied the vehicle to the everyday street around it.
The front of the bus is turned slightly toward the camera, with its grille, round headlights, and large windscreen clearly visible. A broad teal stripe runs along the pale side panels beneath a row of rectangular windows. Behind it, arched openings and red curtains create a second rhythm of colour and shape. At the right edge, a horse and carriage remain partly visible, adding another form of transport without taking over the frame. I liked how closely the scene held together within this narrow stretch of road.
Colour makes the differences between surfaces easy to see. The bus has darker, rougher edges than the soft green wall beside it, while the red curtains introduce a warmer note behind the glass. I made the photograph during my travels in Cuba in 2018, finding the composition while walking rather than arranging the scene. The interest is in that combination of a familiar public vehicle and a particular street: passengers behind the windows, weathered paint in the foreground, and several layers of daily life gathered around one bus.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
