Rusted Factory Electrical Panel on Brick Wall Colour Photography
Corroded Metal Boxes Mounted on Boards Beneath a Bare Bulb
An old electrical panel remains mounted on wooden boards inside an abandoned factory. Rusted metal boxes sit below a bare bulb, with brickwork extending around the assembly. I photographed this detail in 2006. My interest in industrial decay led me toward a subject that is small within the building, but full of the varied surfaces that make these places visually compelling.
The boards give the panel a distinct rectangular setting against the wall. Their horizontal grain contrasts with the rough metal and the repeated bricks beside them. One cover stands open, revealing circular components inside, while smaller fittings and a short length of cable add to the arrangement. I like the way these functional objects form a composition without needing anything added to them.
Colour remains subdued: warm brown timber, dark rust and grey brick share the frame, with faint green marks on the wall. The pale bulb near the top creates a small point of contrast. Each surface catches light differently, so the photograph offers both an overall structure and a collection of textures to examine. The open area of brick on the right balances the denser cluster of equipment on the left.
I see this image appealing to someone interested in industrial photography, old workshops or the visual character of abandoned interiors. It brings the subject close enough for the corrosion, grain and masonry to become part of the experience. What holds my attention is the mixture of materials around a once practical installation, still arranged on the wall despite its weathered condition.
