Reichstag Dome Railing in Black and White Berlin Photography

A Curving Glass Rail Meets Closely Spaced Metallic Lines

The curve of the railing changes how the whole structure reads. Inside Berlin’s Reichstag Dome, Germany, a glass-edged walkway bends around a dense arrangement of horizontal louvers. This black and white photograph follows that bend, bringing the repeating metal lines close to the foreground while the dome’s darker framework recedes behind them.

I wanted a view that showed the building through its design rather than its exterior outline. From this angle, the louvers spread across the left side before narrowing around the central curve. Their bright edges separate them from the shadowed spaces underneath, creating a pattern that is precise but far from flat.

The railing offers a smoother line beside that repetition. It catches small points of light and guides the eye toward the right, where glass and structural supports overlap. The two curves are related, yet they move through the frame differently. That interaction makes an architectural detail feel active even though every element is fixed.

Working in monochrome kept my attention on those relationships. The scene has deep dark areas, narrow highlights, and a few broader pale surfaces near the top. Looking through it slowly reveals how each contributes to the sense of depth. This photograph holds a particular aspect of Berlin’s architecture: not simply a recognisable building, but the experience of its shapes unfolding from a close viewpoint.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
