Berlin Bundestag Station Entrance Black and White Night Photography
An Illuminated U Sign Beside Angular Concrete Walls
The bright U sign is the first thing I notice in this Berlin night photograph. It sits on a sloping concrete wall above the word “Bundestag,” marking the station entrance against a broad area of dark sky. I made the photograph during my 2013 visit to Berlin, drawn to how a small amount of light could define such a strong architectural composition.
The near wall rises as an angled plane on the left, while the entrance descends below street level behind it. A long parapet leads from the foreground toward the distance. I like the relationship between these forms: the sharp slope, the straight edge and the dark space beside them. A second angular structure appears farther back, repeating the shape on a smaller scale.
Streetlights form a line beyond the entrance, their pale heads punctuating the darkness. In black and white, the sign and lights become clear points of attention, while the concrete holds a quieter range of grey. The large dark upper area gives the illuminated architecture room to stand out. Details remain concentrated low in the frame, making the vertical composition feel especially spare.
For me, the photograph combines a recognisable Berlin station sign with an almost abstract arrangement of light and geometry. It would appeal to someone interested in urban night photography, modern architecture or city transport seen through its surroundings. On a wall, its strong contrast gives an immediate presence, while the receding edges and smaller lights reward a closer look.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
