Reichstag Dome Curving Lines Black and White Architectural Photography
Closely Spaced Bands Sweeping Through A Dark Interior
At this distance, the Reichstag dome becomes an intricate pattern of lines. Closely spaced bands curve through the photograph, spreading across the lower half and narrowing as they rise. I made this architectural detail in Berlin at night in 2013. The dark interior and small points of light give the repeating structure a strong presence without needing a view of the whole building.
My eye follows the brighter edges first. Some form long, almost horizontal strokes; others bend upward toward the right side of the frame. Their spacing changes with the perspective, creating a sense of depth within what initially looks like an abstract surface. A pale angular opening near the upper right interrupts the darker curves, giving the composition another shape to hold onto.
I find the photograph rewarding because it can be read in different ways. From farther away, the dense bands make one sweeping form. Closer inspection separates them into individual edges, reflections and glimpses of the structure behind. Black and white keeps those changes in light and spacing at the centre of the image. The brightest spots remain small, so the overall mood is restrained and dark.
For a wall, I see this as an architectural image with the visual character of an abstract study. Its vertical format and repeated curves would suit someone interested in modern interiors, geometry or monochrome photography. The Berlin connection adds another layer for a viewer familiar with the Reichstag, while the pattern itself gives plenty to explore through shape, rhythm and contrast.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
