SAHMRI Angular Facade Photography With Rows of Dark Triangles
Repeated Peaks Fill a Wide View Beneath Pale Sky
These dark triangular forms almost suggest a small mountain range. I found the pattern on SAHMRI’s facade in Adelaide, Australia, and photographed it as a wide black and white abstract. The view runs along rows of angular projections, with a pale band of sky above them and bright framework catching the light below.
I like how the forms overlap. The nearest peaks have clear edges and visible surfaces, while those farther away crowd into a dense, uneven-looking line. Although the elements repeat, the perspective gives each row a different spacing. The result feels more varied than a simple grid seen straight on.
Light defines the pattern without filling every surface. Narrow bright strips trace the lower edges of several triangles, while the upper faces remain dark. In places, the framework forms a second, smaller shape beneath the larger peak. Those little repetitions reward a closer look and give the photograph more detail than its bold outline first suggests.
I kept the composition wide and low because the horizontal sweep is part of its character. It lets the rows spread across the frame, with just enough sky to separate their pointed tops from the background. In a modern office or living space, the print offers a strong geometric rhythm in a restrained palette. For me, its appeal lies in that brief resemblance to a natural landscape, created entirely by the lines and shadows of a real building.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
