Caddo Lake Dense Cypress Forest Black and White Photography
Tall Trunks and Dark Water Create a Repeating Pattern
Vertical lines fill this view of the cypress forest at Caddo Lake in Texas. The trunks stand at different distances, some pale and clearly outlined, others almost merging with the darker woods behind. I photographed the grove across the water, using a broad frame to include the repeated forms and the reflections beneath them.
The photograph becomes more intricate the longer I look at it. Thin branches connect the upright trees, and hanging growth adds finer marks between the larger trunks. Several wider tree bases give the composition points of weight, while the narrower stems keep a continuous rhythm across the image. Light on the bark helps separate those overlapping layers.
The water holds a second, softer version of the forest. Dark reflections run downward from the trunks, broken by small ripples and pale lines across the surface. I like how that lower band changes the texture without changing the direction of the image. The vertical forms continue, but their edges become less certain.
Converting this photograph to black and white brings the tree pattern forward. The result has the detail of a wooded landscape and the repetition of an abstract composition. For a room with neutral colours or someone drawn to swamp forests, it offers a densely layered nature scene with quiet water at its base and many small variations to discover among the trees.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
