Venice Shuttered Windows Black and White Architectural Print
Striped Awnings and Flower Boxes Above a Quiet Square
Shuttered windows, striped awnings, and flower boxes cover a weathered facade in this black and white photograph from Venice, Italy. The building faces a quiet paved space, with a second wall entering from the left and a rooftop terrace above. I chose a close architectural view that keeps the small variations between windows easy to see.
Three awnings along the upper floor make the clearest repeated pattern. Beneath them, shutters sit at different angles, some closed and others pulled away from the wall. Flowers gather along several sills. Those changes give an otherwise orderly frontage an individual character, one opening at a time.
The building at the left adds depth, narrowing into shadow where it meets the main facade. Its darker windows contrast with the sunlit wall ahead. At ground level, doors and barred openings introduce smaller shapes, while the open paving offers a relatively simple area below the many details.
I photographed this scene in 2005.
What stays with me is the balance between repetition and everyday variation. The windows share a common structure, yet their coverings, plants, and shadows are never quite the same. In monochrome, those distinctions become particularly readable. This Venice photography print offers an intimate city view centred on the lived character of a building, with enough detail to reward looking beyond the first impression of its facade.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
