Colourful Death Valley Ridges and Distant Mountains Wall Art
Cream and Rose Terrain Beneath a Cool Blue Range
Cream, yellow, and muted rose run through the nearer ridges, while a cool blue mountain range stretches across the distance. I photographed this Death Valley landscape in 2010, drawn to the change in colour between those two parts of the view. A pale clouded sky and a softened patch of sun complete the scene above them.
The foreground has a complicated arrangement of folds and pointed rises. Some surfaces look almost smooth from this distance, but narrow shadows reveal the channels between them. Darker peaks interrupt the lighter terrain, giving the eye a series of shapes to follow across the frame. Beyond that nearer land, a pale strip of valley floor separates it from the distant mountains. I kept all of these layers in the photograph because their differences make the view feel deeper than any single ridge could.
What I find especially appealing is that the colour is varied without becoming loud. The warm tones are softer than they first appear, and the blue mountains provide a broad, quieter band behind them. The clouded light allows detail to remain visible across much of the terrain. This print offers a desert landscape with a gentle but distinctive palette, suited to someone drawn to Death Valley or the natural shapes of the American Southwest. On a wall, the nearer folds can hold a close look, while the more distant range gives the whole composition a calm sense of scale.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
