Dublin Bearded Man Black and White Street Portrait Photography
Steady Eyes And A Flower Pendant Against Dark Clothing
The small flower pendant changes the balance of this Dublin portrait. At first I notice the man's direct gaze, heavy brows, and grey beard; then the pale petals draw my eye down through his dark clothing. I photographed him straight on, using black and white to bring those different details into the same quiet range of tones.
His face fills most of the vertical frame. The hair lifts away from his forehead, the beard spreads beneath his chin, and the background remains dark enough to give both a clear outline. There is little surrounding street information. I wanted the photograph to be carried by a person rather than by an easily recognized view of Dublin.
I find the small departures from symmetry especially engaging. A single earring, the direction of the hair, and the uneven beard prevent the frontal composition from feeling rigid. The eyes stay near the centre of attention while these details give me reasons to keep looking around the frame.
His expression is direct without being easy to read, and I prefer to leave it that way. I do not know a life story from a face. What the photograph offers is more immediate: a meeting with the camera, a distinctive combination of features and accessories, and the unexpected softness of that flower shape beneath the beard. Those visible details are enough to make this portrait stay with me.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
