As I wandered through the historic Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin, Ireland, I was captivated by the haunting atmosphere of an old jail cell door, standing in stark contrast against the crumbling stone walls that once imprisoned its occupants. The passage of time had left its mark on the jail's interior, and I felt compelled to capture this poignant vestige of history through my lens.
With its weathered surface and heavy metal hinges, the wooden cell door evoked a profound sense of confinement and despair. It stood as a testament to the harrowing experiences of the prisoners once held within. The delicate play of light filtering through the windows created an eerie, captivating, and chilling atmosphere.
As a fine art photographer, I aimed to preserve the emotion and essence of Kilmainham Gaol, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves in the site's rich and tumultuous past. This photograph is released as a signed and numbered edition of 10 prints across all available sizes. Each print is individually signed and numbered by the artist on the reverse and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Once all 10 prints have been sold, this work will be permanently retired, and no further numbered editions will be produced in any size or format. A small number of Artist Proofs may be retained by the artist for archival or exhibition purposes.
