Abandoned Bahamas Teapot Black and White Still Life Print

An Everyday Ritual Left on a Wooden Shelf

One teapot was enough to hold my attention inside this abandoned home in Clarence Town, Bahamas. Resting on a wooden shelf, it sits against a dark backing with its handle raised and its curved spout pointing into the light. I photographed it in black and white, allowing the pale metal and worn timber to carry the scene without the distraction of colour.

The framing is close and deliberately spare. Vertical wall boards establish a simple background, while the shelf edges cross the image in strong horizontal lines. Within that solid structure, the teapot introduces softer forms: a rounded body, an open loop of a handle, and the small upward turn of the spout. Its familiar shape remains immediately recognisable despite the marks on its surface.

What moved me was the contrast between the ordinary purpose of this object and the stillness surrounding it. A teapot belongs to repeated daily gestures, to water warming and something being shared. Here, those associations are present even though the room gives us no account of who once used it. I wanted to leave that space for the viewer rather than supply an imagined history.

The photograph finds its atmosphere in small differences of tone and texture. Light catches the vessel gently, separating it from the shadows behind. For a kitchen, dining space, or a collection of monochrome still lifes, it brings a quiet study of a familiar object in a place left behind.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
