Tuscany Chapel and Rolling Fields Black and White Photography
Vitaleta Chapel Anchors the Hills of Val d’Orcia
The chapel is small within the landscape, but my eye keeps returning to it. In this Val d’Orcia photograph, the Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta stands among cypress trees above broad rolling fields. I framed the scene to let the countryside remain dominant, with the building serving as a quiet point of reference.
A farm track curves through the middle ground toward the chapel and nearby buildings. The ploughed surfaces carry finer lines that follow the slopes, making the hills feel almost sculptural. Working in black and white allowed me to concentrate on those shapes and on the differences between open farmland and darker groups of trees.
The clouds were heavy that day, giving the Tuscan countryside a subdued atmosphere. Distant ridges soften into grey, while the closer fields retain their texture. I like how the darker vegetation in the lower frame provides a strong first layer before the eye moves across the lighter slopes beyond it.
Standing there, I felt the scene narrow into a still relationship between land, trees and chapel. That sense of calm is what I wanted to preserve. The photograph leaves room to trace the track, pause at a lone tree, then return to the small facade among the cypresses. This vertical print offers a detailed Italian rural landscape for someone drawn to Tuscany, quiet farmland or monochrome nature photography with a modest architectural anchor.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
