Painted Hands on a Weathered Havana Wall | Street Art Photograph
Large Painted Fingers and Dark Drips Across Rough Havana Plaster
Two large painted hands spread across a weathered wall in Havana, their pale fingers set against broad dark areas and long paint drips. I encountered the mural while walking through the city in 2017. This close street photograph keeps the artwork and the wall’s rough surface together, with muted cream, grey and brown tones running through the frame.
The hands are recognisable at once, but their outlines are far from clean. Surface wear breaks through the painted shapes, and dark streaks continue below the fingers. One hand occupies the left side with bent, overlapping forms, while the other extends across the right. Their different positions create a broad movement around the darker centre of the composition.
I find the wall itself just as important as the imagery. Patches of old finish, rough plaster and uneven marks make the painted surface feel layered. Small ventilation openings remain visible near the upper right, adding a compact grid beside the much larger curves of the hands. The photograph holds those details at the same scale as the mural rather than treating them as background distractions.
Walking through Havana, I was drawn to how artwork can become part of a facade’s existing texture. Here, the paint follows and crosses the worn surface, creating an image that changes as the eye moves closer. For someone drawn to urban photography and expressive street art, this photograph offers a detailed Cuban wall study. The hands provide the immediate subject; the drips, worn finish and small openings keep revealing further layers around them.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
