Curved Metal and a Screen Portrait | Discovery District Photography
Sweeping Globe Arcs Against a Face in the City
Curved metal ribs sweep diagonally across this black and white photograph of the Globe at the AT&T Discovery District. I moved the structure close to the foreground, where its repeating arcs take up most of the frame. Beyond them, a large face on a screen appears between trees and the straight lines of city buildings.
That unexpected pairing is what gives the view its character. The metal has a steady, repeated rhythm, with narrow gaps and small crosspieces breaking up the curves. The face behind it is softer, partly interrupted by branches, and much less predictable as a shape. I like how it catches the eye after the stronger architectural lines have led us through the image.
The upward angle brings several kinds of geometry together. Curves dominate the left and lower areas, while the tower above the screen carries a regular grid of windows. Trees add finer, irregular marks along the right edge. Black and white lets those differences remain visible without a busy mix of urban color.
For me, this is a city photograph built around a close encounter rather than a broad skyline. The Globe becomes almost abstract at this distance, yet the screen portrait and buildings keep the scene tied to its urban setting. Its appeal is in the overlap: public sculpture, architecture, and a fleeting image sharing one view. The result suits an interest in contemporary design while still offering something human to discover among the lines.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
