Sweeping Arches and Fine Cables Against a Clouded Sky

One curve leads into another. From this close viewpoint, the arches of Elizabeth Quay’s pedestrian bridge overlap against the sky, with fine cables crossing the space between them. I photographed the structure in Perth as a black and white architectural study, concentrating on its shape rather than the surrounding waterfront.

The nearest arch has a broad, pale outer face and a much darker inner edge. That change in tone gives it volume as it sweeps through the upper frame. Small triangular cable connections repeat along the curve, creating a sequence of details within the larger form.

Behind it, a second arch rises from lower in the composition. Its position introduces another direction, while the cables draw long diagonals across both the structure and the sky. I like how those slender lines remain delicate beside the substantial curved metal.

Clouds give the background a soft range of greys. They provide enough variation to keep the open areas alive without competing with the bridge. In monochrome, the bright surfaces, dark edges and fine lines each have a clear role.

This view reduces a Perth landmark to a few strong architectural relationships: curves, diagonals, repetition and empty space. The bridge remains identifiable, but the photograph also works as a study of modern design. The close composition lets the nearest arch feel expansive while the smaller one establishes depth below.

About My Fine Art Photography

Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.

I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.

My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
