This photograph was created on the rolling hills of northern Romania, where the land rises gently, and the fences seem to multiply as they climb. What you see here is a working rural landscape shaped not by design trends or aesthetics, but by necessity and tradition. Wooden fencing cuts across the hillside in deliberate, repetitive lines, guiding the eye upward toward a small farmhouse and a stand of trees at the hill's crest. I made this photograph on location, standing in the field and working the composition slowly as the lines revealed themselves. This is a real place, shaped by real hands over generations.
