A Bright Red Taxi Along a Pale Colonnade
The red taxi gives this Havana street its immediate burst of colour. Its rounded bonnet and chrome grille sit against a long pale facade, where repeated arches and columns stretch into the distance. I photographed the scene in 2017, bringing the car and the building together in one view of the street.
A small yellow taxi sign rests inside the windscreen, and sunlight catches the curved bodywork. The round headlights and broad bumper make the front of the car easy to read. Below, a dark shadow separates it from the bright road. I like how the vehicle’s rounded forms contrast with the taller, more orderly architecture behind it.
The colonnade has details of its own. Dark entrances sit beneath the arches, while tall windows repeat above them. Pale cream and white keep the facade lighter than the car, with a small section of pink building visible at the far right. The street markings lead through the foreground, connecting the close view of the taxi to the space beyond it.
This Havana taxi wall art can bring a strong colour accent to a living room, office or space devoted to classic cars.
