Branching Coastal Channels from Above | Abstract Aerial Photography
A Coastal Landscape Drawn in Branching Tidal Lines
From the airplane, this stretch of coast became a network of lines. Dark channels branch through pale ground, meeting a band of ochre and olive land along the upper edge. I photographed the scene from above, drawn to a coastal pattern that reads almost like a drawing while remaining firmly rooted in the landscape.
One larger channel runs down through the centre, with smaller branches spreading to either side. The aerial viewpoint makes their connections visible in a way that would be difficult to grasp from the ground. There is no horizon here; the image asks the eye to move across a surface rather than look toward a distant view.
The muted colors give those lines room to stand out. Pale grey and sandy tones occupy most of the photograph, while the warmer strip of land anchors the top. Subtle changes in the ground's texture add depth around the channels without overwhelming their branching shapes.
I like the shift that happens as I look at this image. At first, it can feel like an abstract arrangement of marks and color. Then the channels reveal the coast beneath them, and the scale begins to grow. That movement between detail and landscape is why I kept the composition so close.
For a collector interested in natural patterns or aerial photography, this view offers both. The quiet palette brings the intricate coastal lines forward, letting the structure of the land become the photograph's main subject.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
