Route 66 Car Mural Photography in Black and White
A Weathered Sports Car Beneath Heavy Roadside Clouds
Route 66 has always been inseparable from the automobile for me. Engines, repair shops and long-distance driving are as much a part of its appeal as the landscape. This black and white photograph brings that connection into a small roadside scene: a weathered sports car painted across a brick shop facade beneath heavy clouds.
The painted car looks ready to move, yet it is fixed above a very orderly arrangement of door, glass-block window and striped awnings. I like that tension. The brick courses and almost frontal view give the building a firm structure, while the worn mural breaks into uneven patches across the wall. The car’s outline survives through that wear.
Across the foreground, a battered striped barrier repeats the geometry in a rougher way. Concrete posts, trimmed shrubs and the texture of the ground keep the scene practical and unpolished. Above them, the dark sky occupies enough of the square frame to give this modest building a substantial presence. Monochrome draws those surfaces and tonal differences together.
I made the photograph while travelling along historic Route 66 in the United States; I do not have the exact town recorded. It remains one of those fragments of the road that stays with me after the journey. For an automotive enthusiast’s den, office or garage-inspired space, the appeal is in the combination of car imagery and the everyday building that carries it, both visibly marked by time.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
