1971 Plymouth Cuda Yellow Hood and Pin Colour Photography
Metal Lettering and a Hood Pin Against Bright Yellow
The yellow hood provides almost the entire background in this close photograph of a 1971 Plymouth Cuda. I framed the Plymouth lettering and hood pin together, leaving the rest of the car outside the view. The result is a small automotive detail made distinct by a very strong field of colour.
The metal pieces bring a different kind of surface into the composition. Highlights catch the raised letters and the circular plate around the pin, while small shadows separate them from the paint. A retaining cable drops towards the lower edge, creating a thin curve beside the sharper hood seam. I enjoy how these familiar car details can be read as simple shapes: a circle, a line of lettering, a narrow curve and an angled panel edge.
There are subtle changes within the yellow as well. A broad pale reflection crosses the upper part of the hood, and the closer section shifts in brightness along its raised contours. Those variations keep the background from becoming entirely flat. My photograph leaves enough paint visible for the colour to remain the first impression, then invites a closer look at the metalwork. It is a view for anyone drawn to classic car details, where the identity of the Plymouth comes through a few carefully included features rather than a full vehicle portrait.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
