Layered Manhattan Building Facades Black and White Architecture Print
Rounded Windows and Straight Facades Share a Dense City View
Manhattan’s buildings overlap closely in this black and white architectural photograph. Rounded windows and pale brickwork fill the left side, while straighter facades rise beside and behind them. I made this photograph in 2011, drawn to the city’s density and the way different buildings can share a view while keeping their own character.
The curved corners provide the strongest repeated shape. Each floor carries a band of windows around the bend, with a narrow railing following the same line. Beside them, a smaller dark building has a different scale and a few ornamental details. Farther back, the window patterns become straighter and more regular. I like moving between those rhythms. A tiled roof, a small balcony or a bright window catches the eye briefly, then the larger lines carry it onward. Light falls across parts of the pale facade, adding another pattern that passes over the brick and glass.
There is very little open space in this photograph. The buildings fill the view, so texture, tone and shape provide the sense of depth. For me, it captures something familiar about Manhattan: the feeling of looking at several different places at once within a small part of the city. As wall art, it may suit an office, study or living room with an interest in architecture. It can also appeal to someone who enjoys New York photographs that stay close to everyday building details. The scene rewards a longer look, with each facade offering a different route through the picture.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
